Villacana has a magical quality which appeals to all age groups and all tastes. The Moorish architecture is set against manicured gardens and the backdrop of the Mediterranean, and this mature development is one of the most popular destinations along the coast.
It is set between the historic towns of Marbella and Estepona, and can be reached from Malaga airport (50 minutes) or Gibraltar airport (40 minutes once you clear the border).
It is ideally placed on the uncrowded beach for long walks or for playing in the sand. If you prefer to swim, the gentle waves of the Mediterranean may lure you in, or you could use one of four pools in the Villacana complex. There is also a paddling pool for young children. All the pools on Villacana are now protected by glass screens for added peace of mind.
Villacana has no less than four independent bars and restaurants on site, and two more just outside next to Villacana North. There is often live entertainment in one of the bars which adds another dimension to your stay. A short stroll along the beach in either direction will bring you to a beach bar and restaurant, and one of these (Heaven) will sometimes have a live band playing at the weekends.
For the basics a small supermarket is just outside of the car park, and several supermarkets within a short drive. A walk inland will bring you to the village of Cancelada, where there are many bars, restaurants and a few small shops. There is a Pharmacy “just in case”. Every Friday there is a small market in the village for fresh fruit and other local goods and produce.
Villacana also has a Unisex hair and beauty salon, and the Proprietor, Jude, is always happy to give you a pampering.
You may not wish to venture further than Villacana itself, but if you do there is so much to see and do along the Costa del Sol it would be unfair to suggest any favourites, it is all worth seeing. A bus ride will take you to the historic towns of Marbella to the East, and Estepona to the West, the centres of both a maze of narrow streets and tempting tapas bars and shops.
Our golf page has many suggestions of fabulous courses in the area. If your game is tennis then the nearby Bel-Air Tennis Club is a popular club, or if you prefer a singles or doubles closer to home you can hire a court from Villacana North, just behind the shop. The MacDonalds reception will be pleased to help you with your booking.
Venture a little further and you can reach Casares, Granada, Ronda, Seville and Cordoba, all worthy of seeing if you want to soak up the essence of the region. An excellent way to have a taster of this historic region is with a guided tour from a company such as Viva Andalucia, and you can perhaps make a selection of a destination before you arrive?
Villacana is also conveniently placed for those wishing to take a golfing, tennis or walking holiday. If you need advice please get in touch on our contact page and we will try to help you find your ideal sporting location or walking guide.
For local knowledge the Villacana reception staff will offer friendly assistance. They can help arrange taxis for a small charge. The office also has a telephone service, and internet access to help you stay in touch. Much of Villacana has WiFi provision for a small fee as well.
If this is your first visit to Villacana, we think it will offer you the perfect venue from which to enjoy your holiday. If you are returning to Villacana once more, we wish you another amazing stay.
